A fantastic total of £1,257 was raised both directly and indirectly by a fete in the village of Cubbington, near Warwick, on Saturday 23 September for The Cotton Tree Children’s Trust.
The fete was conceived and organized jointly by trustees Andrea Ellwood and Adelle Sessay who are taking over the day to day running of the charity from founder and director Rosie Bidwell whose continuing health issues have forced her to relinquish most of her management duties.
Andrea and Adelle, says Rosie, “are absolute gems, without whom the charity would no longer be able to function effectively. I can’t thank them enough. They have given Cotton Tree a much-needed organisational boost and are always coming up with new ideas. Such is their drive and commitment, I have appointed them both as deputy directors.”
The £1,257 was raised from a variety of sources: selling raffle tickets, cakes and sweets; donations; a sponsored half-marathon by Andrea in Nottingham which alone raised over £570 (her target was £500); and a sponsored walk around the park adjacent to Cubbington Village Hall by children.
The fete was just the first of many new fund-raising events being planned to raised much-needed funds for the Cotton Tree youngsters, most of whom are now embarking on college or university education.
